Keun Young Bae focuses her practice on internal corporate and government investigations before the US Department of Justice, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and other regulatory and law enforcement agencies. Ms. Bae has represented clients in a variety of industries in investigations involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other anti-corruption law, securities enforcement, financial fraud, and other regulatory compliance issues. As part of her investigations practice, Ms. Bae manages multi-jurisdictional review teams and document collections, conducts witness interviews, and prepares internal and government-facing presentations.  Ms. Bae also helps clients assess potential anti-bribery compliance risks and design and implement risk-mitigating policies and procedures. 

Pro Bono

Ms. Bae maintains an active pro bono practice focused on immigration law. She was selected as WilmerHale’s 2021 Pickering Fellow and spent six months working full time with the City Bar Justice Center’s Immigrant Justice Project, where she represented survivors of domestic and sexual violence, trafficking, and political persecution in obtaining asylum, U and T Nonimmigrant Status, and other forms of immigration relief.

Past Experience

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Bae was a Global Law and Policy Denniston Fellow at General Electric, where she assisted with investigations concerning the FCPA and potential compliance violations. While pursuing her legal education, Ms. Bae also completed an internship at Credit Suisse focused on anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, and sanctions compliance.

Recognition

  • Selected by peers for inclusion Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for white-collar criminal defense (2024).
  • Recognized by the City Bar Justice Center with a 2023 Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award for her work in immigration law. Ms. Bae was was one of ten recipients of this award, and was selected from more than 1,800 volunteers who worked with the Justice Center in 2023.
