Christine D. Ely

Christine Ely's practice focuses on securities enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters, including internal corporate investigations and securities regulatory investigations, examinations, and actions. She has represented major investment banks, hedge funds, public companies, and individuals in a range of matters involving the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, securities self-regulatory organizations, and state attorneys general.

Ms. Ely maintains an active and varied pro bono practice, including matters involving civil rights litigation, campaign finance disclosure, and immigration.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Ely clerked for the Honorable Barry Ted Moskowitz of the Southern District of California.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Ely was an Education Law and Policy Fellow at Appleseed, a nonprofit network of public interest justice centers in the United States and Mexico. At Appleseed, Ms. Ely assisted with composing the organization’s policy recommendations for the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

During law school, Ms. Ely was a summer associate at a firm in New York. She also interned for the Legal Aid Society’s Education Advocacy Project, where she helped represent special education students and served as a Student Leader for other interns. Additionally, Ms. Ely worked as a summer law clerk for the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and as an extern for the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem.

Before law school, Ms. Ely taught first and second grade as a New York City Teaching Fellow in the city’s public school system.
