Stephen Preston Receives National Security Agency Intelligence Under Law Award

Partner Stephen Preston recently received the National Security Agency's Intelligence Under Law Award, presented annually in recognition of an individual's “commitment to the conduct of intelligence activities under the rule of law.” Preston was cited “for the example he set for those in government service” as General Counsel of the Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency. 

Preston chairs WilmerHale's Defense, National Security and Government Contracts Practice. He rejoined the firm in 2015 after serving as DoD General Counsel from 2013 to 2015 and as CIA General Counsel from 2009 to 2013. In these positions, he played a leading role in ensuring that US military operations and intelligence activities fully complied with domestic and international law, and was a key legal advisor on many of the country's most challenging and consequential national security endeavors.

Preston received the award at a ceremony on June 6 at Fort Meade, Maryland.
