Ms. Doberman was most recently general counsel of ProShare Advisors, a $30 billion ETF and mutual fund complex, where she was responsible for all legal and compliance issues.

“Amy will be a great asset to our clients, providing highly sophisticated advice based on over 25 years of SEC and financial services experience. She has worked on a wide range of issues for retail and institutional asset management firms, including regulatory counseling, product development, corporate governance, and enforcement and litigation matters,” said Bill McLucas, chair of WilmerHale’s Securities Department and former director of enforcement for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Before ProShare Advisors, Ms. Doberman was at Morgan Stanley Investment Management as a managing director of its Legal and Compliance Department, managing director and general counsel-Americas with UBS Global Asset Management, and was general counsel of Aeltus Investment Management (now part of Voya Financial). From 1990 to 1996, she was at the SEC, beginning in the Division of Enforcement and then moving to the Division of Investment Management, where she became Assistant Chief Counsel.

“I’m thrilled to join WilmerHale and look forward to entering private practice and continuing to provide advice on navigating the regulatory challenges that asset management businesses face today,” said Ms. Doberman.

Ms. Doberman chaired the Investment Company Institute’s Rules Committee from 2009 to 2012 and the Institute’s Mutual Funds Conference in 2008 and 2009. She is a frequent speaker at major industry events and has participated on numerous industry task forces.
