Attorney News

Christopher T. Casamassima has joined WilmerHale’s Los Angeles office as a member of the Litigation/Controversy and Regulatory and Government Affairs Departments and the Business Trial and Antitrust and Competition Practice Groups.

Mr. Casamassima was previously at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Los Angeles, where his practice focused on complex business disputes involving antitrust, breach of contract, fraud, business torts, trade secrets and other commercial issues. He has experience on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of cases, including notable trial wins in the defense and aerospace industries. Within the antitrust field, Mr. Casamassima has represented clients in Department of Justice investigations and civil litigation concerning alleged price fixing and other alleged Sherman Act violations. He also provides antitrust counseling and conducts compliance training programs for clients.

“We are pleased to welcome Chris to the firm,” said David Marcus, Vice Chair of WilmerHale’s Litigation/Controversy Department. “With Chris’s impressive record of success and strong trial experience, the firm and its clients will benefit greatly from his arrival.”

WilmerHale’s Business Trial Group has extensive experience litigating complex civil cases in such areas as trade secret disputes, class actions, breach of contract claims and business torts.

Randall Lee, Partner-in-Charge of the firm’s LA office, added, “Chris’s depth of experience in some of our firm’s core practices—high-stakes litigation, defense contracting and antitrust—further bolsters the LA office’s ability to handle our clients’ most significant matters.”

“I am thrilled to come on board at WilmerHale,” said Mr. Casamassima. “Having worked both alongside and against WilmerHale over the years, I was particularly attracted to the opportunity to join forces with the outstanding lawyers and top-notch practices of the firm as well as to help build and grow the LA office.”

WilmerHale’s LA office was established to strengthen and expand the firm’s preeminent enforcement, litigation and regulatory practices in Southern California and throughout the western United States. The office consists of 20 lawyers who focus on several practice areas that are key strengths of the firm—intellectual property litigation; SEC enforcement defense; government investigations and white-collar defense; defense/aerospace-related litigation; antitrust litigation; and other complex litigation.

Mr. Casamassima is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law where he was Submissions Editor for the UCLA Entertainment Law Review. He received his BA in History from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Antitrust Law Section and the Cartel and Criminal Practice Committee of the American Bar Association, the Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Section of the State Bar of California and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers
