Client News

The Lawyer has ranked WilmerHale among the top 10 litigation practices in the world in this year's list of the Global Litigation Top 50—an annual analysis of which of the world's largest firms are generating the most fee income from disputes. The firm is highlighted for its strong reputation in arbitration within the UK and for its noteworthy geographic footprint, which it continues to grow with the addition of top tier talent. Most recently, the firm announced the arrival of the UK's leading IP litigator, Trevor Cook, who will be joining the firm in early 2014.

WilmerHale's Litigation/Controversy Department currently reaches from the United States to Europe and Asia. Its lawyers have secured victories for clients at all levels of the justice system and across diverse subject matter and geographies. In the past year, the firm has achieved decisive wins for household-name technology and social media companies in critical intellectual property and business cases in the US federal courts, at the US International Trade Commission (ITC), and in Europe. The firm has obtained numerous victories for multinational companies, financial institutions and other clients in high-profile regulatory litigation, investigations, securities class actions, arbitrations and other matters. WilmerHale has one of the most active trial practices, having taken more than 25 cases to trial in the past two years. In 2013, the firm's record of success at trial has been stellar. Of the 17 cases tried in 2013, the firm suffered not a single loss. WilmerHale achieved victories in 11 of those cases, settled two favorably during trial, and is now awaiting decisions in the remaining four. Currently, the firm has 22 cases scheduled for trial in 2014. Additionally, the International Arbitration Group is representing parties in more than 80 active arbitrations in international venues with claims totaling over $85 billion.

The Global Litigation Top 50 ranking is based on significant matters, litigation department size and details concerning alternative fee arrangements. For more information about the list of top litigation practices, please view the full article published on The Lawyer's website.
