Terrence McNeil and Katherine Zucca are WilmerHale’s most recent recipients of the distinguished Pickering Fellowship. Created in memory of the late John H. Pickering, one of the firm’s founding partners, this fellowship allows associates to spend six months at a public service organization where they will contribute their legal skills and help to fulfill the organization’s mission.

Mr. McNeil will spend his fellowship working at The Medical-Legal Partnership for Children at the Boston Medical Center (MLPC). He will succeed David Giordano, Boston’s first fellow, who started with the MLPC in January of this year. MLPC’s mission is to cultivate medical-legal partnership in various clinical settings nationwide by working to transform health care for vulnerable populations. This organization allows pediatric clinicians to work with lawyers to ensure that families can meet their children’s basic needs. Started in 1993 by the Boston Medical Center and Boston University, it has expanded to over 30 sites nationally.

Ms. Zucca succeeds fellow Washington Associate Roberto Gonzalez at the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. Mr. Gonzalez and the firm’s inaugural Fellow Katherine Gillespie each completed successful six month tenures for this organization. For over 40 years, the Washington Lawyers Committee has represented both individuals and groups seeking to vindicate their civil rights. Handling over 5,000 civil rights cases in various aspects of urban life, they are the premier legal organization in Washington, DC.

In addition to Mr. McNeil and Ms. Zucca, Bronwen Blass, is currently completing her six month fellowship with the Legal Counsel for the Elderly in Washington.
