C5 European Forum on Anti-Corruption in Frankfurt

C5 European Forum on Anti-Corruption in Frankfurt

Speaking Engagement

The UK Bribery Act has been in force for more than a year with no major investigation or prosecution announcements. Reports cite a decrease in FCPA prosecutions since 2010.

German regulators and courts have been busy this year particularly in relation to new regulations for the monitoring of expenses in the pharmaceutical industry, personal liability of company executives and who is considered instrumental to the state for purposes of a bribery offence.

The latest case and legislative developments show that successful anti-corruption compliance is a constantly evolving target which requires constant monitoring and upgrading to ensure new risks associated with new third parties, new markets and new regulatory developments are detected and minimised at the earliest opportunity.

WilmerHale Partners Dr. Roland Steinmeyer and Jay Holtmeier, and Counsel Patrick Späth are featured speakers at this event. Dr. Steinmeyer will moderate a panel entitled "Inside the Most Costly Anti-Corruption Cases of the Year in Europe and Lessons Learned for Compliance," Holtmeier will moderate a panel entitled "Update on The FCPA Guidance and Current US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Enforcement," and Späth will participate in a panel entitled "How to Implement the “Right-Sized” Global Anti-Corruption Compliance Programme: A Practical Guide on Effective Structures, Internal Controls, Risk Management and How to Meet Regulators’ Expectations."
