Washington, D.C. — September 16, 1999 — Robert B. Bell has joined Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering as a partner resident in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Bell, formerly a partner with Wiley, Rein & Fielding, has extensive experience in antitrust matters and will contribute significantly to Wilmer's well-known antitrust and competition law practices.

Mr. Bell's practice emphasizes representing parties to mergers and acquisitions before the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission. He has litigated a wide range of antitrust cases, including cases where price fixing, group boycotts, market division, monopolization, price discrimination, and exclusive dealing were alleged. He also is experienced in counseling clients on compliance with the antitrust laws. Mr. Bell has represented clients from a wide variety of sectors, including imaging, communications, manufacturing, chemicals, transportation, and education.

Mr. Bell graduated from Dartmouth College in 1975. He received his M.A. in Economics from Cambridge University in 1977 and his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1980. Following law school, he served as a law clerk, first to U.S. District Judge Thomas A. Flannery (D.D.C.) and then to Justice Byron R. White of the United States Supreme Court.
