Pro Bono Team to Receive 2005 Humanitarian Award from the National Abortion Federation

WilmerHale has received The National Law Journal's Pro Bono Award and is featured in the Journal's January 3, 2005 issue for its representation of the National Abortion Federation in a successful challenge to the federal ban on "partial-birth abortion."After a nearly four-week trial in April 2004, the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York struck down the law as unconstitutional for its failure to include an exception to protect a woman's health. On April 19, the National Abortion Federation will also present its 2005 Humanitarian Award to the team for its work on the case.

The members of the firm's trial team were: Steve Hut, Kim Parker, Amy Wigmore, Karen Daly, Kyle DeYoung and Caroline Rogus in Washington DC and Anja Manuel in New York. Paul Wolfson, Cora Han, Elizabeth Gill, Alex Krulic, Jennifer Morrison and Amy Richardson in Washington DC and Annie Small in New York also assisted in the case.
