Gary Born Receives 2012 ILO Client Choice Award

Firm News

Gary Born was presented as a preeminent practitioner for arbitration in the United Kingdom by International Law Office (ILO) during its annual Client Choice Awards gala held in London on February 22. Mr. Born is chair of the firm's International Arbitration Group and is widely regarded as the world's leading authority on international commercial arbitration and international litigation.

Uniquely, the ILO Client Choice Awards only survey senior corporate counsel, with this year's winners chosen from more than 2,000 individual client assessments. These awards recognize law firms and partners around the world that stand apart for the excellent client care they provide and the quality of their service. Firms and partners were assessed on the following criteria: quality of legal advice, value for money, commercial awareness, effective communication, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, response time, sharing of expertise and use of technology.

Mr. Born has participated in more than 550 international arbitrations, including four of the largest ICC arbitrations and several of the most significant ad hoc arbitrations in recent history. He was awarded the Global Arbitration Review's inaugural “Advocate of the Year” award in 2011. Mr. Born is also the author of leading works on international arbitration, including International Commercial Arbitration (Kluwer 2009), the leading treatise in the field, which received the American Society of International Law's Certificate of Merit for High Technical Craftsmanship and OGEMID's Book of the Year award for 2009. He has been continuously recognized over the past decade as one of the world's leading international arbitration practitioners and the leading arbitration practitioner in London.
