A Spiraling Caseload Under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act

In recent years, the government has increased its efforts to enforce the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). The number of enforcement actions brought annually by the Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission has grown exponentially, from an average in the low single digits only a few years ago, to more than 30 in both 2007 and 2008.
