Fletcher, Eric

Eric Fletcher is a senior associate who focuses his practice on complex litigation matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Fletcher was a law clerk for the Honorable Michael Boudin of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Mr. Fletcher was a summer associate at WilmerHale in 2010, working on litigation matters in Boston and Washington DC. While at law school, Mr. Fletcher was also a legal intern with the National Consumer Law Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Before beginning his legal studies, Mr. Fletcher was Policy and Issues Director for the gubernational campaign of former North Carolina State Treasurer Richard H. Moore. He also served as a policy advisor for the Office of the North Carolina State Treasurer.

After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in political science, Mr. Fletcher was a research analyst with a policy consulting organization in Durham, North Carolina. During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Fletcher spent one year in the London School of Economics and Political Science’s study abroad program.

In addition, the firm was recognized for its role in two “Milestone Cases of the Year:” Akamai Technologies v. Limelight Network (Fed. Circuit, August 2015), in which the firm argued on behalf of Akamai, and Authors Guild v. Google (Court of the Appeals for the Second Circuit, October 2015) in which the firm represented Google.

Federal Circuit Reversed $74M Judgment in Favor of Cisco

On December 28, 2015, WilmerHale achieved a significant victory for Cisco Systems, when a panel of the Federal Circuit unanimously reversed a $74 million judgment against Cisco after concluding that plaintiff Commil USA, LLC had failed to prove at trial that Cisco's products actually infringe Commil's patent.

Significant Patent Case Ruling by Supreme Court a Win for WilmerHale

On January 22, 2014, the US Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of WilmerHale client Medtronic Inc., in Medtronic Inc. v. Mirowski Family Ventures, L.L.C.—the first patent decision of the court's 2013 Term.
