Katy Kelly

Katy Kelly is an accomplished human resources executive who has broad experience in the field. She is an authority on employee benefits, and advises clients on administration, compliance and management of employee benefit programs, including defined benefit, 401(k), 403(b), deferred compensation, health and welfare plans.

Due to Ms. Kelly’s extensive knowledge, she serves as a valuable resource on myriad of administrative issues, such as analyzing and preparing filings under the IRS and DOL correction programs; preparing and submitting IRS filings with respect to determination letter requests; preparing Form 5500 and Summary Annual Reports; nondiscrimination testing and analyzing results for welfare and retirement plans; drafting Summary Plan Descriptions and other employee communications; reviewing QDRO’s and QMSCO’s and providing support to administer such orders; reviewing beneficiary issues; reviewing insurance contracts, service contracts and communication materials; designing and implementing document retention programs; and supporting DOL and IRS audits.

Ms. Kelly is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, and Northeast Human Resources Association.

Prior to joining WilmerHale, she was a Human Resource Manager for a Massachusetts-based holding company with 6,000 employees nationwide and was responsible for all human resources functions including HR Strategy, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations, Training, Leave Administration, HRIS and  Policies.

In addition to Ms. Kelly’s degree from Eastern Connecticut State University, she studied Forestry at SUNY at Syracuse University and pursued graduate studies in human resource management at Harvard University and Bentley College. She also completed the modules on Compensation, Mergers and Acquisitions and Qualified Plans through World at Work. She was an instructor in the Paralegal Certificate Program at Boston University for several years and has been a speaker in the Bentley College Human Resource Certificate Program.
