Jessica Alvarez

Jessica Alvarez is a staff attorney in the firm’s WilmerHale Discovery Solutions Department, focused on substantive and strategic areas of discovery for Litigation/Controversy matters.


Ms. Alvarez focuses her practice on issues of e-discovery. Specifically, she works with other attorneys, litigation technology project managers, and paralegals on teams that manage electronic and other documents in large cases and investigations. Attorneys on these teams take a leadership role in the document control process, systematically tracking documents from preservation to collection and through review and production. They work with e-discovery vendors and their review and analytical tools; review documents; train and oversee other firm and contract attorneys who review documents; and partner with project managers to perform production quality control.

Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Alvarez worked as a contract attorney at various Washington DC law firms, including WilmerHale, reviewing documents for responsiveness, privilege and confidentiality. She has also served as a staff attorney at two Washington DC law firms. Ms. Alvarez has extensive experience working on responses to investigative inquiries by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Her experience also includes working on Hart-Scott-Rodino reviews to ensure compliance with second requests issued by the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, as well as securities class actions and bankruptcy matters.

Previously, Ms. Alvarez was a law clerk at two Maryland law firms. Upon graduating with her degree in criminology and criminal justice, Ms. Alvarez was Pretrial Services Specialist with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
