Hyun-Soo Lee’s practice focuses on both internal investigations and government investigations before the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and other regulatory and law enforcement agencies. Ms. Lee has represented clients in a variety of industries in investigations involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), securities enforcement, other regulatory compliance issues, and anti-discrimination. She was also part of a DOJ-appointed independent compliance monitorship team that required a compliance assessment in multiple countries. As part of her investigations practice, Ms. Lee regularly works with cross-border review teams, conducts witness interviews, and prepares internal and government-facing presentations. In addition, Ms. Lee has experience advising clients on the strength of their compliance policies and programs, including on forced labor-related regulations.

Ms. Lee maintains an active pro bono practice representing asylum seekers. She has also contributed to amicus briefs in various cases of importance, including those related to immigration and religious freedom. 

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Lee was an international human rights fellow at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France. While pursuing her law degree, Ms. Lee completed internships in the international arbitration practice of major law firms and at a barristers’ chambers in London. During college, Ms. Lee interned at two public interest law groups in Seoul.
