Damien Atkins

Damien Atkins is an accomplished and award winning lawyer who has experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, securities regulation, ethics and compliance, government investigations, and privacy matters. He is a trusted advisor who is exceptionally skilled at helping clients navigate through highly complex and sensitive matters.

As part of his practice, Mr. Atkins represents clients in matters that cut across the legal spectrum, and he relies on his extensive knowledge and strong background to advise on diverse and complicated issues, complex legal and policy matters, and high-stakes decisions. 

Before joining WilmerHale, Mr. Atkins was the senior vice president and general counsel of corporate strategy at The Hershey Company, where he was responsible for leading the corporate secretary, government relations, legal and corporate security functions. During his time with The Hershey Company, the legal team was recognized by The Financial Times as one of the most innovative in-house legal teams for Leadership Development and “The Future of Work.” Prior to joining The Hershey Company, Mr. Atkins was general counsel and corporate secretary for the Panasonic Corporation of North America as well as the acting chief executive officer of Panasonic Enterprise Solutions. At Panasonic, Mr. Atkins managed the company’s full intellectual property and litigation portfolio and led global legal teams in several multi-jurisdictional FCPA and antitrust investigations. Mr. Atkins's background also includes serving as senior vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate and chief compliance officer at AOL, Inc., where he led a range of high-profile legal matters involving mergers, acquisitions, and real estate. Mr. Atkins began his legal career as a corporate lawyer with another large international law firm.

Mr. Atkins serves as the chair of the Board of Directors of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association.
