Clara S. Spera
Senior Associate
Clara Spera is a senior associate who represents clients in trial and appellate litigation. She focuses her practice on anti-discrimination matters. She maintains an active pro bono practice in the areas of reproductive rights, criminal justice and family law.
Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Spera was a pro bono legal fellow with the Federal Defenders of New York where she represented indigent clients charged with federal crimes, and an Equal Justice Works legal fellow with the American Civil Liberties Union, Reproductive Freedom Project where she litigated cases in both federal and state courts seeking to lift abortion restrictions across the country.
Ms. Spera previously clerked for the Honorable Robert A. Katzmann of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Denise Cote of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Ms. Spera is a member of the Equal Rights Amendment Coalition’s ERA Advisory Council.
