Mi Hyun (Angela) Yoon

Angela Yoon's practice focuses on antitrust law, including merger clearance, civil litigation, and criminal cartel investigations. Her clients include companies in the automotive, biotech, energy, financial, oil field services, pharmaceutical, semiconductor and wireless communications industries.

Ms. Yoon has represented clients in cross-border criminal and civil investigations by the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission and foreign authorities, as well as in litigation involving the intersection of antitrust and intellectual property rights. She has been a member of multiple WilmerHale trial teams in both federal and state courts. She also assisted clients with securing merger clearance before the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, as well as with addressing privacy and data security issues.

Past Experience

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Yoon worked as a law clerk at the Bureau of Competition at the Federal Trade Commission. During her time there, she reviewed Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) filings and assisted in merger investigations.

From 2010 to 2011, Ms. Yoon worked as a field placement intern at the US Securities and Exchange Commission, where she conducted investigations and research in the enforcement, bankruptcy and litigation groups, and at the Coca-Cola Company, where she assisted clients on various corporate transactions and regulatory antitrust matters. She also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Ronald A. Guzmán of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

From 2005 to 2008, Ms. Yoon worked as an associate in the Finance Practice of Charles River Associates in Boston, where she assisted economic and damages experts in complex securities litigation matters.

Professional Activities

Ms. Yoon is a member of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association. She also participated as a judge in a nationwide mock trial tournament at Tufts University in 2014.

  • Represented a major cellular handset manufacturer in multiple patent infringement and antitrust lawsuits involving wireless communications and claims related to standard-setting participation and FRAND licensing commitments
  • Represented a global auto parts supplier in response to criminal cartel investigations by the US Department of Justice and foreign authorities
  • Represented a pharmaceutical company in Hatch-Waxman patent settlement cases in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, including those brought by the Federal Trade Commission and purported purchaser classes
  • Assisted a novel therapeutics company in securing antitrust clearance from the Federal Trade Commission for a $675 million merger with a global pharmaceutical company
  • Provided guidance to a national retailer involved in a data breach
