Alex Civetta

Alex Civetta has a corporate and commercial contracts practice in which he advises public and private companies on a broad range of transactions and ongoing matters, with an emphasis on technology transactions, licensing and negotiation. Mr. Civetta counsels clients on the intersection of business and law in industries such as software development, internet technology, data analytics, hardware, robotics, professional services, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

As part of his practice, Mr. Civetta drafts and negotiates legal agreements in a wide variety of contexts, including software-as-a-service, data use, software licensing, collaborations, sponsored research, material transfer, consulting, intellectual property assignments, product distribution, development, services, manufacturing and supply, marketing, resale, brand licensing, beta testing, patent licensing, asset sales and equity financings.

Mr. Civetta was previously a teaching assistant for negotiation courses at Harvard Law School, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, and various executive education programs through the Harvard Program on Negotiation. He was also a summer associate at WilmerHale, where he worked on a broad variety of legal matters.

Previously, Mr. Civetta served as a law clerk for Americans United for Separation of Church and State. He researched and wrote on public forum law, the legislative prayer and local government powers for the US Supreme Court case Greece v. Galloway.

Before obtaining his law degree, Mr. Civetta was a senior program manager at a private software-as-a-service company, where he led implementations of the company's flagship software product at higher education institutions across the country and advised clients on complex software and process integration issues.
