Aaron Thompson

Aaron Thompson is a litigator who focuses his practice on intellectual property and general commercial matters. 

Since joining the firm, Mr. Thompson has represented a variety of technology clients in patent litigation and other complex commercial litigation. His technology experience includes computer algorithms, integrated circuits, biomedical devices, pharmaceuticals and cellular standard-essential technology. He has direct experience in all phases of litigation including the initial investigation, pleading, discovery, depositions, expert reports, summary judgment, Daubert motions, motions-in-limine and trial and post-trial motions.

Mr. Thompson's successes include Mformation v. Research in Motion (2012)—a patent jury trial that resulted in a finding of no liability by the district court, which was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Thompson completed a clerkship with the Honorable Mariana R. Pfaelzer of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. During his time as a law clerk, he assisted with drafting orders for matters focused on securities law, antitrust law and complex patent litigation.

Before serving as a law clerk, Mr. Thompson was a litigation associate in Irvine, California. While there, his practice focused on intellectual property litigation and commercial matters. During law school, Mr. Thompson earned a certificate in World Trade Organization Studies at the Georgetown Institute of International Economic Law. He also completed an internship at Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County.

Professional Activities

Mr. Thompson currently serves as the chair of the Bench and Bar Committee for the Los Angeles County Bar Association Barristers Section, and he has been member of the Executive Committee of Barristers since 2014.
