WilmerHale Ranked a Top Women-Led Business by The Boston Globe and The Commonwealth Institute

Recognition

The Boston Globe, in partnership with The Commonwealth Institute (TCI), has ranked WilmerHale as a Top Women-Led Business in Massachusetts. This is the sixth consecutive year the firm has been recognized. WilmerHale ranked among the top 10 of Massachusetts businesses and is the only law firm to have made the list.

Susan Murley, WilmerHale co-managing partner, has led the firm for the past seven years. During her tenure, she has seen the firm become more diverse and equitable, with 25 percent of the firm comprised of women—surpassing the industry average. A commitment to diversity is one of WilmerHale’s guiding principles.

The WilmerHale Women’s Leadership Initiative, established in 2006, focuses on the professional development supporting the needs and interests of women in the firm, promoting their recruitment, retention and advancement. The organization is championed not only by the women leadership at the firm, but by the entire Management Committee, providing all necessary resources to ensure the initiative’s success.

Earlier this year, WilmerHale was listed as a Top Family-Friendly Firm by the Yale Law Women at Yale Law School, named a Best Firm for Women and Minority Attorneys by Law360, and was awarded the 2018 Gold Standard Certification by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum. In addition, the firm has achieved Mansfield Certification Plus status for 2018 by achieving key diversity goals regarding recruitment, promotion and leadership opportunities.

The Boston Globe and TCI considered revenue, number of full-time Massachusetts employees, workplace and management diversity, and innovative projects to rank all participating businesses.
