Human Rights Campaign Rates WilmerHale a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality

Firm News

For the ninth consecutive year, WilmerHale has earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC).

"Even in the face of relentless attempts to undermine equality, America's leading companies and law firms remain steadfast and committed to supporting and defending the rights and dignity of LGBT people," said HRC President Chad Griffin. "The unprecedented expansion of inclusive workplaces across the country and around the globe not only reflects our progress, it helps drive it. As we enter a new chapter in our fight for equality, support from the business community will be more critical than ever to protect our historic advancements over the last decade and to continue to push equality forward for workers, customers and families around the world."

The 2017 CEI rated 1,043 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.

Diversity is a part of WilmerHale's Guiding Principles. Firm leadership is dedicated to increasing diversity throughout the firm and fostering an inclusive workplace for all attorneys and staff. The range of ideas, perspectives, backgrounds, relationships and talents that our lawyers bring help us develop exceptional solutions for our clients. WilmerHale's Diversity Committee leads our efforts to further the recruitment, development, and advancement of women and people of varying sexual orientations and people of color. The Committee ensures that all lawyers and staff have the opportunity to develop their talents fully and that the firm serves as an example of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer people. HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
