Ship Ahoy

One of the most exciting activities of this week was the Palo Alto office's annual summer sailing trip. On a Friday morning, the Summer Associates, along with several of the firm's attorneys, gathered by the docks in San Francisco. I was really excited to get on the water and secretly hoped that I would see some marine life.

After leaving the city, we made our way through the bay and to a little town called Tiburon for lunch. The restaurant we went to, Sam's, was right on the water, so we had a great view of the docks from our patio seats. Also, the food was amazing. We were treated to an enormous seafood lunch filled with oysters, shrimp and some of the best fries I've ever had. With sunshine, great food and even better company, lunch at Sam's definitely made me feel like it was summer.

The sailing trip has been my favorite summer event so far. It was great to be able to spend some time relaxing on the boat whilst also having the opportunity to talk the firm's attorneys in a more intimate setting. Additionally, seeing San Francisco from the water is equally beautiful and makes me appreciate how lucky I am to be living in the Bay Area.

I can't believe it has already been six weeks. Time has flown by and I know the next four weeks will be just as quick. I've gotten into a routine and am really enjoying the summer. Along with the plethora of fun activities, I really appreciate that I'm being given substantial work. I have learned so much over the past few weeks and know that my work product will be used for the firm and its clients. Being particularly interested in corporate work, I've already been given the opportunity to draft documents that will be used by WilmerHale clients for a variety of financing deals. I love being treated as a member of the team and am excited to see how the rest of the summer unfolds.
