Sanket Bulsara is a partner in the Litigation/Controversy Department, and a member of the Business Trial Group. He joined the firm in 2005. Mr. Bulsara's practice focuses on commercial litigation and white collar criminal defense.
Practice
Mr. Bulsara has extensive experience working on complex federal and state court litigation matters. He has represented clients and authored briefs on behalf of clients in a wide range of commercial and business litigation, involving contract, securities, False Claims Act, and regulatory issues. Mr. Bulsara also has extensive experience in representing individuals and entities in civil and criminal investigations brought by various government agencies, including the Department of Justice. Mr. Bulsara has argued before the New York State Supreme Court, various federal district courts throughout the country, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He also has extensive trial experience in both state and federal court, and has served as counsel in a number of commercial arbitration disputes.
As part of his pro bono practice, Mr. Bulsara was a member of the WilmerHale team challenging the constitutionality of lethal injection in Virginia.
Immediately following his clerkship with the Honorable John G. Koeltl, Mr. Bulsara joined Munger, Tolles & Olson in Los Angeles as a litigation associate.
Recent Highlights
In January 2007, Mr. Bulsara was part of the WilmerHale trial team that won $52 million on behalf of the firm's client, when a jury in New York Supreme Court, New York County unanimously ruled against Cablevision Systems Corporation in a breach of contract action. In 2008, the verdict was subsequently affirmed by a unanimous panel of the Appellate Division.
From August 2007 through January 2008, as part of the firm’s Partners-in-Prosecution program, Mr. Bulsara served as a Special Assistant District Attorney in the King’s County District Attorney’s office, where he conducted hearings and jury trials in a variety of felony cases.
In September 2008, he second-chaired a two week arbitration in a breach of contract action seeking $50 million in damages from a WilmerHale client. Following trial, the parties entered into a favorable settlement, resulting in no payment by the defendants.
In April 2009, he was part of the WilmerHale trial team representing prominent oil and gas investors in a breach of contract action in a bench trial in the Commercial Division, New York State Supreme Court.
In July 2009, Mr. Bulsara led a team of associates representing an incarcerated prisoner bringing § 1983 claims in a Southern District of New York jury trial.

Mr. Bulsara is a member of the American Bar Association.
Community Involvement
Mr. Bulsara is President of the Board of Directors of Sunnyside Community Services, a settlement house and social services organization in Queens, New York. He also serves on the Young Professionals Board of the National Urban Debate League.
