Robert Woll is a partner based in WilmerHale’s Beijing office. He serves as the chair of the firm's Asia Corporate Practice Group and co-managing partner of the Beijing office.
Practice
Mr. Woll’s practice focuses on M&A, private equity and restructuring transactions, and the formation of venture capital and private equity funds. He also has broad experience in securities offerings, project finance and the regulation of financial institutions.
Mr. Woll has represented global and emerging Asia-based private equity fund managers on a wide range of matters, including fund formation, the operation of investment funds, platform buildups and other portfolio investments in China and exit strategies. He has advised institutional investors with respect to private equity funds and other alternative investments in Asia. He has also worked with many of the leading technology entrepreneurs and enterprises in China with respect to joint ventures and strategic alliances, private placements, global public offerings and venture capital transactions.
Mr. Woll has been resident in Hong Kong since 1997 and in Beijing since 2007. He began his career in New York City and also practiced in Los Angeles and Tokyo.

- Representation of Saudi Economic and Development Company (SEDCO) in its alliance with Partners Group AG, the formation of SEDCO Partners Group Opportunities Fund, L.P. and SEDCO’s investments in private equity funds focusing on China, India and Latin America
- Representation of Tsing Capital Co. Ltd., the venture capital firm spun off from Tsinghua University, in the formation of China Environment Fund III, L.P., a $230 million venture fund focusing on renewable energy and clean tech investments in China
