Robert J. Gunther, Jr., a partner in WilmerHale's Litigation/Controversy Department, and a member of the Intellectual Property Litigation Group, has been inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America. The induction ceremony took place on September 12, 2014 during the College's Annual Meeting in London.

Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only to those trial lawyers with at least 15 years trial experience who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility, and collegiality. Less than one percent of attorneys in each state are admitted to the College.

At WilmerHale, Gunther's practice involves all aspects of intellectual property litigation. He regularly appears as lead trial counsel in patent, trade secret and other intellectual property cases before federal district courts and arbitration tribunals throughout the United States. He also argues appeals before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, among others, and has tried patent disputes before the US International Trade Commission. Gunther received his JD, cum laude, from St. John's University School of Law, where he was an editor of the law review, and received his BA, summa cum laude, from St. John's University. Gunther has been named an "IP Star" for 2013 and 2014 by Managing IP magazine and has been recognized as a leader in intellectual property law in the 2010 through 2014 editions of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.

Founded in 1950, the American College of Trial Lawyers strives to improve and elevate the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice, and the ethics of the trial profession. There are currently almost 6,000 members in the US and Canada.
