were selected as WilmerHale’s most recent recipients of the Pickering Fellowship. Through this distinctive opportunity, they will spend six months at a public service organization, where they will represent the firm’s long standing commitment to public service.
Ms. Friedman will serve her fellowship at the Urban Justice Center
in New York. The Urban Justice Center helps New York City’s most vulnerable residents through a combination of direct legal service, systemic advocacy, community education and political organization.
Mr. Smith will work with the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs
. For over 40 years, the Washington Lawyers Committee has represented both individuals and groups seeking to vindicate their civil rights. Handling over 5,000 civil rights cases in various aspects of urban life, they are the premier legal organization in Washington DC.
