Boston offices overlook historic Faneuil Hall, the Financial District, Boston Harbor and the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge. The city of Boston is the economic and cultural hub of New England and the world-renowned home to many academic institutions. Boston and New England provide an atmosphere rich with cultural diversions, the beauty of New England seascapes, mountains and trails, and the home to a host of sports teams, including the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox and historic Fenway Park. Boston provides a wide range of opportunities, both from a legal practice perspective and in terms of the culture and history long associated with the city.

Established in 1918 our Boston office has grown—throughout its more than 85 year history—from a five-lawyer office to a diverse practice of more than 300 lawyers who serve an ever-expanding national and international client base. Our clients range from established industry leaders to emerging companies that reflect the New England region’s strength as one of the premier technology and life science centers in the country.

Our Boston office is a hub for the firm’s litigation, corporate, and intellectual property practices. Our corporate and securities litigation practice is a New England leader in the defense of technology companies and their officers and directors in complex shareholder and consumer class actions. Many of the core members of our renowned intellectual property litigation practice are based in Boston, and have served as lead counsel in hundreds of major patent and trademark litigations. Chambers USA 2012 acknowledges our Boston M&A practice with a first tier ranking, citing WilmerHale as the "top competitor in town" and that our "Boston team is terrific." The Boston intellectual property practice is also listed with a first tier ranking. A client said, "they provide a phenomenal service and achieve major successes; they manage their cases in a very organized fashion and are always communicating the progress of the issue at hand."

Clients of our Boston office benefit from our experience in other core practices such as bankruptcy and commercial, environmental, labor and employment, real estate and tax. In addition to actively contributing to our strong tradition of pro bono representation, our Boston office is a major center for the firm’s Youth and Education Initiative, a program of philanthropic outreach based on the creation of innovative partnerships with select nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving inner-city youth.
