Brussels/EU Practice

We opened our office in Brussels in 1990, just as the European Community introduced its Merger Control Regulation and in anticipation of the impact of the single market. The expansion of our firm was an important strategic decision, and one taken at just the right time. Concentrating on complex, challenging issues at the intersection of business, law and policy, the office has gained widespread recognition as one of the premier law offices in Brussels.

The office’s practice focuses are:

  • International Trade, Investment and Market Access
  • Antitrust and Competition, Merger Control
  • Public Commercial Law
  • Legal Strategy and Public Policy
  • Corporate Law
  • Aviation
  • Telecommunications, Media and E-Commerce
  • International Arbitration

Our highly experienced team of lawyers is qualified in many of the major European and North American jurisdictions, including Germany, Belgium, France, Austria, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. Professor Claus-Dieter Ehlermann, resident in the Brussels office, perhaps best personifies these qualities. As former chairman of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization and Director-General of DG Competition of the European Commission, he is one of the leading experts in the field of EU, competition and trade law. This unparalleled experience with all key EU institutions, EU decision-making committees and bodies is one of the factors behind the international repute of our team.
