Laila Ameri’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, internal investigations and regulatory enforcement matters, including matters involving the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, the Department of Labor, and state law enforcement agencies. She represents public companies, financial institutions, and their officers and directors in complex individual, class action and derivative cases in federal and state court.

Ms. Ameri clerked for the Honorable William E. Smith of the US District Court for the District of Rhode Island. She previously served as a Special Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. She also maintains a robust pro bono practice, with a focus on immigration-related matters.

As the recipient of a Fulbright Research Scholarship, Ms. Ameri spent one year in Amman and Zarqa, Jordan, where she worked as an interpreter and English teacher for the Iraqi Aid Organization, helping refugee families navigate United Nations resettlement procedures, and created an American English program at Hashemite University.
