Jennifer Berrent is a partner in WilmerHale's Corporate Practice Group, and a member of the firm's Emerging Company Practice Group. She is also a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions, Capital Markets and FinTech Groups, the Hiring Committee and the Women's Leadership Initiative.
Before law school, she was a strategy consultant at The Parthenon Group and worked in the Strategic Planning Group at American Express. She uses her business background to provide practical legal advice to her clients.
Corporate Practice
Ms. Berrent has a broad-based practice focused on corporate and securities law matters. She has represented clients in connection with a diverse range of matters, including formation and governance issues, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, royalty and revenue sales, private equity transactions, and initial public offerings and other public securities offerings. She also provides general corporate advice to public and private companies.
Emerging Company Practice
Ms. Berrent has been working with emerging companies in particular for more than 15 years and is focused on serving as trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and the NYC entrepreneurial community. She represents first-time and serial entrepreneurs, as well as early stage investors and venture capital funds. She spearheaded the firm's involvement with WeWork Labs and Dogpatch Labs, two of the leading start-up incubator programs, offering accessible legal counsel and programming for early stage entrepreneurs.
FinTech
Ms. Berrent is actively involved in the firm's FinTech group. She advises clients on how to adapt their business models to legal and regulatory frameworks. Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Berrent served as the Associate General Counsel of Longitude, a start-up company that developed a derivatives trading platform and was acquired by Goldman Sachs.
Community Involvement
Ms. Berrent is an active supporter of the Appalachian Mountain Club and the Mohonk Preserve.
