Jennifer Berrent has handled a variety of corporate and securities law matters for a number of entrepreneurs, early-stage investors and established companies. Ms. Berrent has routinely advised on complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings and initial public offerings, among others. Using her business background, Ms. Berrent has advised clients on how to adapt their business models and has regularly provided advice and representation to emerging companies and clients in the FinTech sector.
Before law school, she was a strategy consultant at The Parthenon Group and worked in the Strategic Planning Group at American Express.
Ms. Berrent has a broad-based practice focused on corporate and securities law matters. She has represented clients in connection with a diverse range of matters, including formation and governance issues, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, royalty and revenue sales, private equity transactions, and initial public offerings and other public securities offerings. She also provides general corporate advice to public and private companies.
Emerging Company Practice
Ms. Berrent has been working with emerging companies in particular for more than 15 years and is focused on serving as trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and the NYC entrepreneurial community. She represents first-time and serial entrepreneurs, as well as early stage investors and venture capital funds. She spearheaded the firm's involvement with WeWork Labs, a leading start-up incubator program, to offer accessible legal counsel and programming for early stage entrepreneurs.
Ms. Berrent is actively involved in the firm's FinTech group. She advises clients on how to adapt their business models to legal and regulatory frameworks. Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Berrent served as the Associate General Counsel of Longitude, a start-up company that developed a derivatives trading platform and was acquired by Goldman Sachs.
