Berrent, Jennifer C.

Jen Berrent represents technology and life sciences companies in corporate and securities law matters. Ms. Berrent routinely advises on complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings and initial public offerings. Using her business background, Ms. Berrent advises clients, particularly in the FinTech space, on how to adapt business models to legal and regulatory frameworks.

Ms. Berrent has been working with emerging companies for nearly 20 years and is focused on serving as trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and the NYC entrepreneurial community. She represents first-time and serial entrepreneurs, as well as investors and venture capital funds. She leads the firm's involvement with innovative incubators in NYC including as founding sponsors of Harlem Biospace, NEW INC (led by the New Museum) and WeWork Labs. Ms. Berrent has taken an active role in educating founders about the critical legal issues that will shape their business through various speaking engagements, publications and interviews.

Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Berrent served as the Associate General Counsel of Longitude, a start-up company that developed a derivatives trading platform and was acquired by Goldman Sachs. Before law school, she was a strategy consultant at The Parthenon Group and worked in the Strategic Planning Group at American Express.
