Fabiano, John G.

Jack Fabiano is a retired partner in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department, and a member of the Business Trial Group. He joined the firm in 1970 and retired in 2012. Mr. Fabiano is a former co-chair of the firm's Diversity Committee and is a past chairman of the Litigation Department of Hale and Dorr LLP, the firm's predecessor. He was an active trial lawyer for 41 years and tried more than 100 jury and non-jury cases in state and federal courts in Massachusetts, Tennessee, Maryland, California, Illinois, New York, Florida and Arizona. Mr. Fabiano also has tried administrative hearings and arbitrations in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Practice

Mr. Fabiano focused on complex commercial litigation. He has trial experience in a variety of areas including the insurance, investment advisory, banking and securities industries; professional and college athletics; intellectual property and trade secret litigation; real estate litigation; medical and legal malpractice; class actions; and wrongful death, personal injury and toxic torts.

Recent Highlights

From 2005 through 2010, Mr. Fabiano represented a minority owner of both an NBA team and an NHL team in ongoing litigation with the majority owners.

In 2011, he won a jury verdict for clients in the investment advisory business who had been accused by a former employer of breaching noncompetition agreements and misappropriating trade secrets.

Mr. Fabiano also has obtained a $32.7 million jury verdict in a Maryland case involving the misappropriation of intellectual property and an $8 million judgment in a Massachusetts case involving utility charges.

He represented the Boston Red Sox in a Massachusetts case to determine the ownership of the "final out" baseball from the 2004 World Series.

Mr. Fabiano was appointed a Special Assistant Attorney General to represent former Governor Mitt Romney in a proceeding resulting in the removal of the Chairman of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority.
