Mehdorn, Ilka D.

Dr. Ilka Mehdorn is a counsel in the Transactional, Regulatory and Government Affairs and German Corporate Departments. She is also a member of the EU/Germany Health Care and Pharmaceuticals Industry Group. Dr. Mehdorn joined the firm in 2003.

Practice

Dr. Mehdorn has longstanding experience in commercial contracts related to transactions in highly regulated markets (e.g. healthcare; she is a Certified Specialist Lawyer in Medical Law). As a member of the Legal Strategy and Public Policy team in Berlin, Dr. Mehdorn advises clients on legislative proceedings and government affairs in both Germany and the European Union.

Recent Highlights

  • 2012: Representing a German winding-up agency (bad bank) regarding the outsourcing of its information technology and operations services 
  • 2008-2011: Dr. Mehdorn represented associations of general practitioners in negotiations of agreements on primary medical care, as well as in numerous arbitration proceedings with public health insurance companies regarding such agreements and in litigation proceedings in connection with various arbitral awards
  • Since 2003 Dr. Mehdorn has been advising DPG Deutsche Pfandsystem GmbH on the implementation of the nationwide clearing system for deposits on non-reusable beverage packaging, and has represented it in numerous mediation proceedings in relation to conflicts between the deposit system’s participants
