For the second year in a row, Global Competition Review (GCR) has honored WilmerHale’s Antitrust and Competition Practice with the Litigation of the Year–Cartel Defence award during the March 26 ceremony in Washington.
The firm received the award for its representation of Schaeffler Group in an auto parts antitrust class action in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Judge Marianne Battani denied a motion for class certification filed by distributors of small bearings over alleged price fixing, finding that the alleged claims by the distributors “differed too much from those of the major automakers and equipment manufacturers they sought to represent,” GCR said. The award was shared with counsel for other defendant companies.
In 2018, GCR honored WilmerHale with the award for Litigation of the Year–Cartel Defence for its representation of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, the largest German airline and one of the largest airlines in Europe, in a preliminary hearing before the English High Court.
