S. Calvin Walden

Retired Partner

Before he retired from WilmerHale in 2022, S. Calvin Walden was an accomplished intellectual property litigator whose practice centered on complex IP counseling and disputes, including patent litigation, IP‑related arbitrations, and licensing matters. He advised a wide range of clients—from public companies to high‑technology, medical technology, and graphic‑arts businesses—on intellectual property asset management, product development, and licensing strategy.

Mr. Walden had extensive trial and appellate experience, arguing and trying cases in federal district courts nationwide and successfully arguing appeals before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Second Circuit, and the International Trade Commission. He also served as first chair in complex software arbitrations before the AAA/ICDR and played leading roles in high‑stakes patent trials and Section 337 investigations involving advanced technologies. He was active in the legal community as a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the New York City Bar Association.
