Andrew Cohn is a partner in the firm's Corporate and Transactional and Regulatory and Government Affairs Departments, a member of the Real Estate and Environmental Practice Groups, and a member of the Emerging Energy Technology Group. He joined the firm in 1980. He serves on the Real Estate Capital Management Committee and is co-chair of the firm's Energy Law Group. He is a former chair and member of the Executive Committee and a former chair of the Real Estate Department.

Practice

Mr. Cohn's practice includes real estate development and finance, equipment leasing, co-generation and waste recycling projects. He has handled major transactions in more than 20 states, involving the financing and development of office buildings, research and development facilities, shopping centers, hotels, warehouses and marinas. He also has extensive experience with leasing, management agreements, construction and ground leasing.

Among Mr. Cohn's real estate clients are Lowe's Companies, Medical Science Partners, Bose Corporation and Cabot Corporation. His energy clients include GDF/Suez, Ameresco, Energy Management, American Renewables, Intercontinental Energy, and Cape Wind. He has handled a large number of major local and regional development projects, including Charles Square and Riverside Place in Cambridge, and the Bose headquarters building in Framingham.

Professional Activities

Mr. Cohn has served as the chair of the Real Estate Section of the Boston Bar Association, as well as chair of the BBA Commercial Real Estate Development and Finance Committee. He speaks frequently on construction lending, development matters and Massachusetts water-rights laws, and is a member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, where he serves on the Environmental Controls Committee. He also is a member of the Federal Energy Bar Association.

Mr. Cohn was a fellow at the MIT-Harvard Joint Center for Urban Studies, a Russell Sage Foundation fellow in law and social science, a teaching fellow at Harvard University and a research fellow at University College in Nairobi, Kenya.

He is a member of the Yale Law School Association of Massachusetts and has served as regional representative of the school's alumni association.
